Transcend Releases DDR3 RDIMM Modules to Maximize Mac Pro Memory up to 128GB

2014/03/13
Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend), a worldwide leader in storage and multimedia products, is proud to announce its launch of 16GB and 32GB DDR3 Registered DIMM (RDIMM) modules aimed at maximizing memory in Apple  Mac Pro  2013 systems. With four user-upgradeable memory slots available, Transcend’s latest high-performance DDR3 RDIMMs can boost Mac Pro 2013 Intel  Xeon  E5 3.5GHz 6-Core, 3.0GHz 8-Core, and 2.7GHz 12-Core models to 64GB, 96GB, and even 128GB total memory capacity.

"The new Mac Pro 2013 is advertised to support up to 64GB of memory, and we understand that pro users running applications that place high demands on RAM have a need to meet and most likely exceed this threshold,” said Angus Wu, Director of Research and Development at Transcend. “For this reason, we have developed and fully tested higher density modules to give users the option of raising their Mac Pro system memory to the advertised 64GB right up to 128GB.”

While the memory that comes pre-installed on the Mac Pro may be enough for common processing tasks, adding more memory is one of the easiest ways to enhance performance during 2D graphic design, HD video editing, and photo retouching. However, the Mac Pro is designed for more serious tasks including 3D graphic design, 4K video editing, and gaming. Therefore, maximizing memory ensures the system can handle powerful, RAM-intensive software applications such as Apple Final Cut Pro X and Adobe After Effects CC.

Transcend’s 16GB DDR3-1866 and 32GB DDR3-1600 RDIMMs guarantee 100% compatibility with the Apple Mac Pro 2013 model, requiring little effort to install in the easy access design and push-up release system of the Mac Pro. As a result, a simple upgrade to Transcend’s high-speed, high-density DDR3 modules can unleash the full capabilities of the Mac Pro, allow users to run multiple applications simultaneously, and future-proof the Mac Pro to deal with demanding software updates.

Comprised of top-quality DRAM chips, the 16GB and 32GB DDR3 RDIMMs offer unparalleled performance and stability to Apple's new Mac Pro workstations. Backed by Transcend's Limited Lifetime Warranty, the new DDR3 RDIMMs will be available for a suggested retail price of $980 (US) for the 64GB kit and $2480 (US) for the 128GB kit.
